Viscosity Control in Textile Sizing and Coating

Sizing – the process of applying a protective adhesive coating on yarn, thread, fibers, or other materials that make up textile fabrics – is one of the most important quality control procedures in textile manufacturing processes.

This protective textile coating helps to ensure that manufacturers are able to provide consumers with durable, high-quality products. Fabrics with adequate sizing are more resistant to absorption, friction, tension and other detrimental actions. Sized fabrics also see reduced hairiness, added strength, increased smoothness, greater elasticity, and a decrease in electrostatic formation.

Proper sizing depends greatly on having adequate viscosity control in place. If the viscosity of the adhesive solution is too high or too low, it can affect the adhesive’s placement and consistency, and negatively impact the quality of your manufactured fabrics.
