Oy Saab-Valmet Ab is a major car manufacturer in
Finland. In the 1980’s they put on-line a computer
controlled spraying system. After evaluating Norcross
and several other viscometers, Norcross was chosen
because we were able to deliver the required sensitivity
and reliability. Saab production required holding
viscosity to +- .5cp, which is equivalent to +-.1 DIN
cup second. The final installation consisted of 22 M8B
measuring elements with digital controllers.
Each
measuring element was dedicated to a single mix tank.
The Controllers read out in DIN or ISO cup seconds. The
controllers fed data to a host computer system via the
4-20madc output. The host computer system monitored tank
temperature and performed temperature compensation as
well as determining when to add make up solvent.
